Consider relaxing with friends and family\, or alone for some solitude. \nOur Iris Respite House chef crafts her menu from fresh ingredients\, and herbs and vegetables growing in the garden\, all while maintaining favorites representative of an English tea setting. While the menu is seasonal and changes monthly\, guests will find their palette well attended. You’ll also enjoy an extensive selection of classic and seasonal teas from Harney & Sons\, and an item or two for purchase. \nThe December menu includes: \n\nScones Course – Orange Cranberry with Christmas Jam\nSavories Course – Phyllo Cups with Spinach & Feta\, Pickle & Olive Ham Salad Tea Sandwiches\, and Arugula & Pecan Pesto with Goat Cheese\nSweets Course – Pistachio & Cranberry White Chocolate Fudge\, Gingered Cookies\, and Chestnut Cheesecake\n\nVegetarian\, vegan\, and gluten-free options are possible. DESCRIPTION:Come explore the Hope Grows property\, walk through our 11 healing gardens\, and enjoy different educational workshops and children’s activities each month! \n\nOur Adult Backyard Basics Educational Series is all about the fundamentals of growing\, harvesting\, and beautifying your backyard. At Hope Grows\, we believe that having a strong understanding of the “basics” before diving in headfirst is of the utmost importance in making sure you’re ready to start a new backyard hobby! Consider joining us for one or all of our adult classes this growing season. \nFOR OCTOBER 17: Worm Composting Basics\nJoin us for an open discussion regarding the different types of composting. Our focus will be on worm composting and why October is a great time of year to start a worm composter! We’ll provide a brief educational rundown of how each method of composting works\, the benefits\, and how to use compost. Participants will have the opportunity to order a small worm composter to assemble\, take home\, and create great compost for the new growing season. REGISTER ONLINE. \nWorkshops are $15 per person and limited to 12 participants. Registration is required!\nAll classes are 6:30-7:30pm in the Education Pavilion at the Iris Respite House B&B and Healing Gardens\, located at 183 Shafer Road in Moon Township. \n\nGarden walks and children’s activities are free and open to the public from 6-8pm. \nOCTOBER CHILDREN’S ACTIVITY: Fairy Wands & Pumpkins\nMake a special fairy wand from beautiful dried allium flower stalks that grow in the spring and early summer. Learn about the allium plants\, decorate a pumpkin\, and find out how long it takes for different items to decompose.
