DESCRIPTION:Come explore the Hope Grows property\, walk through our 11 healing gardens\, and enjoy different educational workshops and children’s activities each month! \n\nOur Adult Backyard Basics Educational Series is all about the fundamentals of growing\, harvesting\, and beautifying your backyard. At Hope Grows\, we believe that having a strong understanding of the “basics” before diving in headfirst is of the utmost importance in making sure you’re ready to start a new backyard hobby! Consider joining us for one or all of our adult classes this growing season. \nSEPTEMBER 19: Basic Flower Arranging\nBring your own vase and we’ll supply the flowers! Learn what cut flowers you could grow next year so that you can build a bouquet from your own backyard. All it takes is 4-5 different types of annual plants to give you a summer of beauty in your kitchen or for gift-giving. REGISTER ONLINE. \nWorkshops are $15 per person and limited to 12 participants. Registration is required!\nAll classes are 6:30-7:30pm in the Education Pavilion at the Iris Respite House B&B and Healing Gardens\, located at 183 Shafer Road in Moon Township. \n\nGarden walks and children’s activities are free and open to the public from 6-8pm. \nSEPTEMBER CHILDREN’S ACTIVITY: Petal Painting\nPound out the pigment from the different colored petals of flowers and “paint” yourself a picture! Jess will guide you through this free-minded creation of a nature print. You can “Make 2 & Give 1” to an important caring person in your life while learning to appreciate nature and abstract art. Participants can also go home with a cut flower from the garden\, your choice.

DESCRIPTION:Come explore the Hope Grows property\, walk through our 11 healing gardens\, and enjoy different educational workshops and children’s activities each month! \n\nOur Adult Backyard Basics Educational Series is all about the fundamentals of growing\, harvesting\, and beautifying your backyard. At Hope Grows\, we believe that having a strong understanding of the “basics” before diving in headfirst is of the utmost importance in making sure you’re ready to start a new backyard hobby! Consider joining us for one or all of our adult classes this growing season. \nFOR AUGUST 15: Beekeeping Basics – CANCELED\nEver thought about being a backyard beekeeper? Join us in learning the fundamentals of keeping these wonderful pollinators and what is needed to begin this hobby. We’ll briefly discuss honeybee hive setup and maintenance\, with an observational hive on display and\, of course\, honey tastings! Participants are encouraged to bring a local honey and share where it is from. \nWorkshops are $15 per person and limited to 12 participants. Registration is required!\nAll classes are 6:30-7:30pm in the Education Pavilion at the Iris Respite House B&B and Healing Gardens\, located at 183 Shafer Road in Moon Township. \n\nGarden walks and children’s activities are free and open to the public from 6-8pm. \nAUGUST CHILDREN’S ACTIVITY: River Rock Bees\nPaint two river rocks to look like bees! Jess will send you home with two\, so you can “Make 2 & Give 1” to an important caring person in your life. You’ll also learn about the important role of honeybees as pollinators and get the opportunity to try on a children’s bee suit (adult sizes as well for the child at heart!). Definitely a fun photo op!

DESCRIPTION:THIS CLASS HAS BEEN CANCELED AND MAY BE RESCHEDULED FOR A LATER DATE \nWith grief and loss comes uncertainty and doubt. Join us in learning that our identity and personality exist beyond grief. You’ll arrange a floral bouquet to take home and connect with the symbolism of flowers and nature to help find joyful moments in your journey of grief. By using flowers and its symbolism to find those joyful moments\, “flowers” become a path to specific roles in healing. \nAttendees must be willing to work with flowers in and from nature. Walking through the healing gardens\, (if able\, but not necessary) is also part of the class. \n***********************************\n \n\n\nThe Joyful Grief & Loss Classes at Hope Grows are part of an educational and supportive program that promotes the concept that while grief can be painful\, it can also present moments of joy. Learn about the emotional pain of grief by way of tactile activities to process and let go of difficult moments and feelings. While building a sense of community\, the journey becomes finding moments of ease and glimpses of the beauty that can surface.
