In2Nature Wilderness Camp

We are excited to bring back our “In2Nature Wilderness Camp” for students entering grades 5th and 6th this upcoming fall! This camp is a step up from our traditional Pollinator Camps and will welcome facilitators from the L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Program.
Campers will meet July 22-24 from 9:00am-12:30pm each day to participate in the following activities:
Day 1
- Explore the Hope Grows’ trails and property with your “journey stick” and collect nature items that resonate with you.
- Have fun with a “Backpacking Essentials” relay race!
- Practice shelter building by making a tent, lean-to, or using a tarp.
- Learn how different animals communicate in nature playing “Echolocation Tag!”
Day 2
- Enjoy nature journaling and sketching of the natural world around you.
- Make S’mores Kits to enjoy during fire-building skills.
- Get up close and personal with bees in our observation hive and make beeswax candles.
- Observe pollinator habitats, plant-pollinator relationships, and interdependencies within the web of life.
Day 3
- Scavenger Hunt Memory Game – take a “picture” with your eyes of a table of nature items and try to find them around the property!
- Learn how to use a compass and compete in a Compass Skills Relay.
- Build a fire (and eat S’mores!).
- Create a gnome or fairy house using only the materials around you.
