Connect with nature and explore birds, butterflies, and bees while learning about their impact and dependence on the environment!
Campers will also learn the importance of caring for others, the earth, and all living things through our “Take Two, Give One to a Family Caregiver” concept.
As our model of support at Hope Grows says, taking a break is not only wanted, but needed. So, parents/caregivers, consider “taking a break” this summer while your child learns and has fun at our Kids Pollinator Camp!
We invite our camp families to attend Family Nights on June 19, July 17, and August 14 to explore the Hope Grows property and see what your campers learned about all week!
Explore one camp or all 3!
June 10, 11, 12
9am – 12:30pm

- Come fly with us this summer as we learn about the pollinating habits of Pennsylvania’s own Ruby-Throated Hummingbird, as well as how to identify certain males and females of our area’s non-pollinating feathered friends. We will have fun exploring how birds use their beaks and feathers, various bird nests, habitats, birdsongs, migration patterns and more! Children will learn how to pollinate flowers, make birdfeeders, decorate their own “wingspans,” and plant our Hope Grows pizza garden.
July 8, 9, 10
9am – 12:30pm

- Find your wings this summer as we learn all about butterfly pollination. Learn how to identify males and females of commonly seen butterflies and which plants Mother Nature has partnered them with in the garden. Dance your way through metamorphosis with special guests The E.S.T.E.E.M. Group. Explore butterfly anatomy, create butterfly art, release live butterflies, pollinate flowers, make seed bombs, and more! Each child will take home a habitat and five Painted Lady caterpillars to raise and release at home.
August 5, 6, 7
9am – 12:30pm

- Buzz into Hope Grows this summer for Bee Camp! Learn all about life in a hive of honey bees as we work (and play!) through the 7 jobs of a worker bee, boogie our way the “waggle” and “round” dances, and smell our way to different “hives” with pheromones. Explore how bees make honey out of flower nectar and have fun voting on your favorite honey. Pollinate real flowers, make some bee art, meet the beekeeper, and get up close and personal with our very own Hope Grows bees as you watch them at work through the windows of our observation hive.
Camp leaders, counselors, and junior counselors are also needed! LEARN MORE
